    Simultaneous fusion, classification, andtraction of moving obstacles by LIDAR and camera using Bayesian algorithm

    In the near future, preventing collisions with fixed or moving, alive, and inanimate obstacles will appear to be a severe challenge due to the increased use of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs). Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) sensors and cameras are usually used in UGV to detect obstacles. The definite tracing and classification of moving obstacles is a significant dimension in developed driver assistance systems. It is believed that the perceived model of the situation can be improved by incorporating the obstacle classification. The present study indicated a multi-hypotheses monitoring and classifying approach, which allows solving ambiguities rising with the last methods of associating and classifying targets and tracks in a highly volatile vehicular situation.     Covariant Poisson's equation in torsional Newton-Cartan gravity

    We derive the covariant Poisson's equation of (d+1)-dimensional Newton-Cartan gravity with (twistless) torsion by applying the `non-relativistic conformal method' introduced in arXiv:1512.06277. We apply this method on-shell to a Schr\"odinger field theory on the curved Newton-Hooke background. The covariance of the field equation in the presence of the non-relativistic cosmological constant, entails fixing all coefficients in the covariant Poisson's equation for (twistless) torsional Newton-Cartan gravity.     Application of Cooperative Distributed Predictive Control in Power Grid Frequency Adjustment

    One of the efficient control methods is the model predictive control(MPC) that calculates appropriate system inputs to reduce the difference between the desired and the system predicted output. One of the important applications of this strategy is in power grids for load-frequency control and power balancing. Different architectures of MPC are applied in large scale structures such as power grid. In this paper a feasible cooperation based MPC(FC-MPC) controller has been used as a suited solution to control problem with relatively strict constraints. Also it can be used as one of options for control system of smart grids in future. In this paper, a power grid with 4 control zones has been chosen as a case study.     Cyber-Physical Systems and Smart Cities in India: Opportunities, Issues, and Challenges

    A large section of the population around the globe is migrating towards urban settlements. Nations are working toward smart city projects to provide a better wellbeing for the inhabitants. Cyber-physical systems are at the core of the smart city setups. They are used in almost every system component within a smart city ecosystem. This paper attempts to discuss the key components and issues involved in transforming conventional cities into smart cities with a special focus on cyber-physical systems in the Indian context. The paper primarily focuses on the infrastructural facilities and technical knowhow to smartly convert classical cities that were built haphazardly due to overpopulation and ill planning into smart cities. It further discusses cyber-physical systems as a core component of smart city setups, highlighting the related security issues. The opportunities for businesses, governments, inhabitants, and other stakeholders in a smart city ecosystem in the Indian context are also discussed. Finally, it highlights the issues and challenges concerning technical, financial, and other social and infrastructural bottlenecks in the way of realizing smart city concepts along with future research directions

    Ulnar dimelia variant: a case report

    We report a case of ulnar dimelia, commonly called mirror hand, in a 2-month-old female child who had restriction of elbow flexion and forearm rotation. There was no facial or other internal organ malformation. Radiographs revealed seven triphalangeal digits with double ulnae (one following the other) and absent radius. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first report of this mirror hand deformity in which fingers are symmetrical while duplicated ulnae are not

    Biochemical Basis of Cyfluthrin and DDT Resistance in Anopheles stephensi (Diptera: Culicidae) in Malarious Area of Iran

    Background: Anopheles stephensi is a key urban malaria vector in the Indian subcontinent and Middle East includ­ing south and southeast of Iran. Wide application of insecticides resulted in resistance of this species to various insec­ticides in these regions. This study was conducted to reveal the role of metabolic mechanisms in the development of resistance in An. stephensi to DDT and cyfluthrin. Methods: Field mosquito specimens were collected from Chabahar Seaport, southeast corner of Iran, in 2015. Insec­ticide susceptibility and enzyme assays were conducted as recommended by WHO. Results: Mean enzyme ratios were 3.95 and 3.04 for α- esterases and 2.40 and 1.97 for β- esterases in the DDT and cyfluthrin- resistant populations correspondingly compared with the susceptible strain. The GSTs enzyme mean ac­tivity ratios were 5.07 and 2.55 in the DDT and cyfluthrin- resistant populations compared with the susceptible beech strain. The cytochrome p450s enzyme ratios were 1.11 and 1.28 in the DDT and cyfluthrin- resistant populations respectively compared with the susceptible beech strain. Conclusion: Metabolic mechanisms play a crucial role in the development of DDT and cyfluthrin resistance in An. stephensi, therefore, further evaluation of the mechanisms involved as well as implementation of proper insecticide resistance management strategies are recommended

    BRF1 accelerates prostate tumourigenesis and perturbs immune infiltration

    BRF1 is a rate-limiting factor for RNA Polymerase III-mediated transcription and is elevated in numerous cancers. Here, we report that elevated levels of BRF1 associate with poor prognosis in human prostate cancer. In vitro studies in human prostate cancer cell lines demonstrated that transient overexpression of BRF1 increased cell proliferation whereas the transient downregulation of BRF1 reduced proliferation and mediated cell cycle arrest. Consistent with our clinical observations, BRF1 overexpression in a Pten-deficient mouse (Pten BRF1 ) prostate cancer model accelerated prostate carcinogenesis and shortened survival. In Pten BRF1 tumours, immune and inflammatory processes were altered, with reduced tumoral infiltration of neutrophils and CD4 positive T cells, which can be explained by decreased levels of complement factor D (CFD) and C7 components of the complement cascade, an innate immune pathway that influences the adaptive immune response. We tested if the secretome was involved in BRF1-driven tumorigenesis. Unbiased proteomic analysis on BRF1-overexpresing PC3 cells confirmed reduced levels of CFD in the secretome, implicating the complement system in prostate carcinogenesis. We further identify that expression of C7 significantly correlates with expression of CD4 and has the potential to alter clinical outcome in human prostate cancer, where low levels of C7 associate with poorer prognosis
